چکیده

There are two principal forms of vibrational optical activity (VOA), an IR form referred to as vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) and Raman form known as Raman optical activity (ROA). This paper reports examples of the application of VCD spectroscopy for the determination of the absolute configuration and conformation of chiral molecules, e.g. cyclic -lactams. VCD spectroscopy can be applied for the characterization of the conformation of proteins and peptides in solution. VCD based conformational analysis of cyclic peptides is discussed. Examples are the cyclic hexapeptide cyclo(Pro2-Gly-Pro2-Gly) and cyclic peptides comprising -homoamino acids (trans-2-aminocyclopentane or trans-2-aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid). Structure analysis by VCD of opiate peptides, glycopeptides, peptidomimetics and chiral transition metal complexes are also discussed.

Computation and analysis of protein circular dichroism spectra.

Introduction Circular dichroism (CD) is the most widely used form of chiroptical spectroscopy, spectroscopic techniques that utilize the differential interaction of molecules with left− and right−circularly polarized light. In the absence of a magnetic field, the molecule must be chiral to give rise to a difference in the interaction with the two types of circularly polarized light. The phenome...

Design and Development of High Gain, Low Profile and Circularly Polarized Cavity-backed Slot Antennas Using High-order Modes of Square Shaped Substrtae Integrated Waveguide Resonator

In In this paper, two low profile, single fed cavity backed slot antennas providing a circularly polarized (CP) wave are introduced. One of the antennas presents a right-handed CP (RHCP) wave, while the other one offers a left handed CP (LHCP) wave. The proposed antennas consist of a square shaped Substrtae Integrated Waveguide (SIW) cavity incorporatng two couples of radiating slots to radiate...

Chiral Mirrors

Conventional mirrors convert right-handed circularly polarized waves (RCP) into left-handed circularly polarized waves (LCP) and vice versa, see Fig. 1(a-c). Here we demonstrate a novel type of chiral mirror that will reflect one circular polarization without changing its handedness, while absorbing waves of the opposite handedness, see Fig. 1(d-f). This functionality, which fundamentally relie...

Novel Circularly Polarized Substrate Integrated Waveguide SLOT Antanna

Circularly-polarized antenna is built based on a new SIW (substrate integrated waveguide)structure which contains cavity-backed resonator and a conventional polarized ring with twosquare slits in inner and outer ring that differ 90° at position and is proposed for right-handedcircular polarization (RHCP) and fabricated in two separate layers. A broadband impedancebandwidth of 13.9% and a RHCP a...

Circularly Polarized Circular Slot Antenna Array Using Sequentially Rotated Feed Network

This paper presents the design, simulation, and measurement of two low-cost broadband circularly polarized (CP) printed antennas: a single element and an array at C band. The proposed single element antenna is excited by an L-shaped strip with a tapered end, located along the circular-slot diagonal line in the back plane. From the array experimental results, the 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth can r...
